BEDS, SHRUBS AND TREES:
New bag =same great product. Florikan 12.6.6. is a great all purpose fertilizer.
It is time to reapply this slow-release granular to your trees, shrubs, flower beds and seasonal color. Benefits of this late fall application, include better fall/ winter color; earlier spring green up and improved growth. WAIT TO FERTILIZE YOUR LAWN……..
Due to our South Louisiana climate we recommend waiting until October to apply the GroSmart Fall step to your lawn.
This product should be applied during the cooler winter months. The high level of Potassium promotes root hardiness and improves turf health during the winter.
Herbicides and Insecticides
Weeds, bugs and mosquitos can get out of control this time of year. Apply these granular Pre-Emergent herbicides and Insecticides to prevent weeds and insects.

Dimension is a pre-emergent herbicide used in ornamental landscape areas and established lawns. It will prevent weed seeds from germinating in your flower beds. Sprinkle over your existing beds every three months, year round. |

Bug Blaster is a broad spectrum insecticide that controls insect pests in lawns and landscapes. Bug Blaster should be applied throughout your yard to control fire ants, fleas, ticks, mole crickets, chinch bugs, crane flies, scorpions, and other listed pests. |
Brown patch is one of the most destructive of all turf diseases. It is a fast spreading and destructive fungus. It often occurs when seasons change with hot days and cool nights. If you have the disease DO NOT FERTILIZE. You will only spread the brown patch.
Treat with F-Stop, a granular fungicide that is both a curative and preventative. Apply to your entire lawn.

Insect Problems

Worms and Caterpillars - These insects can defoliate plants quickly. Typical on azaleas but can also spread to other plants. We recommend using Thuricide. Apply at least 2 applications 7 days apart. |

Sooty Mold - This black colored fungus grows on the dew secreted by aphids. Sooty mold is an aesthetic problem and doesn't harm the plant. You have to treat your insect problem first then apply a systemic to prevent it from happening. |

Lichen - A combination of an algae and a fungus growing in patches. Lichen grows on stagnant plants & trees that are not actively growing. It is not extremely harmful to the plant but is a sign of lack of fertilizer. We recommend using a 12.6.6. |

Scale - A small insect that feeds by sucking sap from plants weakening plants and eventually killing them. It can cause yellowing, stunted growth and dead leaves. Trim the infected areas and spray with an insecticide or dormant oil. |

White Flies - These are unsightly and destructive pests. White flies cause yellowing, mold & poor growth. They reproduce and spread quickly, requiring prompt attention. Apply insecticidal soap in the early morning or late evening every few days. |

Water

Water
July can be hot and dry in Southern Louisiana. Monitor your local weekly rain. Be sure to water trees, lawn and shrubs deeply at least once a week. Watering deeply; encourages a strong root system. The ideal time to water is early morning or early evening.
Keep an eye on plants near or directly under larger trees. These larger trees can absorb a majority of the moisture.
-Avoid pruning your trees and shrubs.
-Avoid digging or transplanting during the heat.
-Avoid planting larger tree as it is hard to regulate their water.
-Apply 2” of mulch around trees and shrubs to retain moisture.
-Don’t over water. It can be just as harmful as lack of water.
Mosquito Problem?
Apply Mosquito Beater to your yard or gardens. The all natural formula will repel mosquitoes, gnats and flies for up to two weeks. Great for parties or family gatherings.
Pleasantly scented and easy to apply. Contains cedar oil, citronella, and geranium oil and lemongrass oil.
Treats 5000sq. ft.
Seasonal Color
Deadhead or remove the dead or spent flowers to encourage more flowering and im-prove the general appearance of the overall plant.
Reapply a monthly fertilizer to your seasonal color to encourage blooms and maintain a healthy plant.

That’s right…….time to fertilize again. June is an important month for your yard. During the heat of the summer your trees, shrubs and lawn need attention. To keep your yard protected and treated, it is time to REAPPLY your Fertilizer, Pre-Emergent Herbicide and Insecticides. **Remember the trick to these chemicals is to apply every three months. MARCH, JUNE, and SEPTEMBER.
LAWN:
Whether you applied the GroSmart spring step or Weed and Feed this Spring; now is the time to apply the GroSmart Summer step 2 on your lawn. This will help sustain your lawn through our hot summer. — ONLY $ 12.50 for 1,700 sq. ft.
***If you are still having weeds pop up in your lawn you can spot spray with Weed Free Zone if weather is below 90 degrees.
SHRUBS AND TREES:

Watering
It is best to water your shrubs and lawn thoroughly then let it dry out slightly.
Deep watering pro-motes strong roots, and healthy plants. If you have irrigation it doesn't mean larger trees, shrubs or pot-ted plants are getting enough water. Check regularly and add water when necessary.
